Victory With a Warning: Creekside Pushes for Higher Standard After 35–7 Playoff Win over Lithonia

Creekside High School Football

Fairburn, GA- As I was capturing my pregame B-roll on the sideline, a chill ran through me, not from the weather, but from the atmosphere. Both teams were locked in, warming up with an intensity that felt bigger than a typical playoff game. The stands filled early, the noise grew, and you could feel it, this was a true playoff atmosphere at Seminole Stadium.

From the opening kickoff, Creekside wasted no time asserting control. Gary Walker got the Seminoles rolling with a tough 3-yard rushing touchdown, putting Lithonia in an early 7–0 hole. Moments later, Anthony Hill powered in for an 8-yard score, stretching the lead to 14–0 as Lithonia struggled to slow down the run game.

Creekside’s defense joined the scoring party when Amari Jones jumped a route and returned an interception 10 yards to the house, making it 21–0. The first-half onslaught continued with Ced Kelly’s 13-yard touchdown run, giving Creekside full control at 27–0. Lithonia simply had no answers for Creekside’s physicality on either side of the ball. The third quarter brought more of the same. Cayden Benson broke free for a 34-yard rushing touchdown, extending the lead to 35–0 as Creekside’s offensive line dominated the trenches.

Lithonia finally found the end zone late in the third when Xavier Butler powered in from 4 yards out, cutting the deficit to 35–7, but the outcome had long been decided.

Though Creekside’s offense cooled down late, their performance was still overwhelming. The Seminoles racked up 303 rushing yards, wearing down Lithonia snap by snap. For a program that has scored 70 points four times this season, putting up 35 in essentially one half actually fell below their usual standard of explosiveness.

Head Coach Maurice Dixon echoed that sentiment after the game, saying his team “did not play up to their standards today.”

That should serve as a warning to the rest of Class 4A. Even on an off night, Creekside can dominate.

What’s next? The victory sets up a massive showdown next Friday at Seminole Stadium, where Creekside will host a hungry Kell team with a trip to the State Championship on the line. If tonight’s atmosphere felt like a playoff classic, next week might take things to another level.
