Atlanta, Georgia – The North Carolina A&T standout has once again punched her ticket to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, returning to the sport’s biggest collegiate stage after another record breaking season. I first had the opportunity to interview Dowd in June of last year following a historic performance that cemented her place in Aggies history. At the time, she became the first female athlete from North Carolina A&T to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the triple jump, soaring 43 feet and setting a new school record in the process.
Fast forward one year, and Dowd has raised the bar once again.
Competing at an elite level throughout the 2026 season, she delivered another personal best performance, recording a jump of 13.22 meters in the triple jump. The mark not only established a new personal record but also broke her own school record, further solidifying her legacy as one of the greatest field athletes in North Carolina A&T history.
Her return to Eugene is a testament to the hard work, consistency, and determination she has displayed throughout her collegiate career. While many athletes dream of reaching the national stage once, Dowd has now proven she belongs among the nation’s best year after year. The accomplishment is even more impressive considering she graduated in May, closing out an outstanding academic and athletic career. Throughout her journey, Dowd has represented herself, her family, and her university with class and professionalism. She approaches life with integrity, remains grounded in her faith, and continues to inspire those around her through her character as much as her athletic achievements.
As she prepares for one final opportunity to compete on the national stage, her future remains incredibly bright. Whether in athletics, professional endeavors, or future leadership opportunities, Dowd has already demonstrated the qualities necessary for long-term success.
