Stone Mountain , GA – The Stephenson Jaguars continued their dominance in 3A-Region 5 football, claiming their third consecutive region championship with an impressive win Friday night over the Douglas Astros.
The Jaguars once again proved why they are one of the most consistent and disciplined programs in Georgia high school football. With the victory, Stephenson improves to 9-1 on the season and secures a home playoff games heading into the GHSA state playoffs.
Head Coach Marcus Jelks praised his team’s effort and focus, especially down the stretch of the season.
“The regional championship was on the line, this was the third in a row, and they didn’t want to be the group that let the program down.” Jelks said.
Stephenson set the tone early with a physical defense that smothered the opposing offense, forcing multiple turnovers and keeping the momentum squarely on their side.
With the region title secured, the Jaguars now turn their attention to the postseason, where expectations are sky-high. The team aims to make a deep playoff run and build on the legacy they’ve been creating over the past three years.
The Jaguars’ three-peat not only cements their position atop Region 5-AAA also reinforces Stephenson’s reputation as one of Georgia’s premier football programs built on toughness, tradition, and excellence.
