Griffin High School Bears are experiencing a resurgence. After back-to-back 1-9 seasons under the previous regime, the program welcomed a new head coach, Bernard Goodrum, and set the stage for a dramatic turnaround. Goodrum, a Griffin native who starred at Fort Valley State University has brought new energy and expectations to the Bears.
The Return to the Playoffs
While the Bears’ record under Goodrum is still in progress, the foundation is clearly set. Griffin is gearing up to host a playoff game, marking the program’s first home playoff appearance since 2020.
The turnaround at Griffin is more than just a better win-loss record. It’s about restoring pride and bringing hope back to a program that endured several tough seasons. With Coach Goodrum at the helm and a supportive staff behind him, the Bears are no longer just hoping to compete, they’re aiming to contend. The bears has rekindled school spirit and has drawn additional support from alumni, parents and local fans who have waited a long time to return to the playoffs
