Decatur, Georgia – The new GHSA playoff format has schools all over the state scheduling difficult schedules due to Post Season Ranking (PSR). This format only guarantees playoff berths only to region champions. For coach Greg Barnett of the Columbia Eagles, he has been scheduling difficult schedules before that format was used state wide.
The Columbia Eagles are coming off a victory over 6A New Manchester 21-10. Even though the Eagles are sitting at 1-2, they could easily be 2-1 with a close loss to Tucker. While the Eagles are a 3A school they have played up in classification and even took on Carrollton a 7A school a couple weeks ago. Showing they are not afraid to play up in competition.
The Eagles have a lot of weapons that have led the Eagle to this great start by many standards. Quarterback Czar Daniels has had a phenomenal start. The senior signal caller is seeing the whole field and delivering passes on the money to his receivers. Linebacker Gemere Adams has been an anchor on defense. He leads the team in solo tackles and is proving to be the leader they need to go far. Demario Davis also had a breakout game against New Manchester last week. The Junior Wide receiver was unstoppable scoring two time in the air and was on the break of having three on the night
If there is one surprise on the team its freshman WR Demarco Cody nick named (cheat code) The freshmen has already started putting up great numbers for the Eagles and has giving the fan base what’s to come in the next several years.
The Eagles are on their bye this week and they will head to Hapeville on September 17th for a non-region matchup.
