College Park, GA – At North Clayton High School senior linebacker Cayden Burnett is entering the new football season with clear momentum, and even loftier goals. At 6′0″, 200 lb, Burnett already boasts a sterling first-team All‑Region selection from Region 5‑3A last season. A testament to his skill, instinct, and impact on the field. He’s been a varsity starter since his sophomore year, showing consistent growth. In 2023, as a sophomore, Burnett made Second‑Team All‑Region honors, poised for a breakout that came to fruition in 2024. Burnett is expected to anchor North Clayton’s defensive unit, calling plays and energizing the team weekly. Though he’s flying under the radar of major programs, a monster senior season could put him on the radar of regional colleges, especially if he continues to develop. All eyes will be on Burnett when North Clayton’s season kicks off. If he locks in on his goals of bringing physicality, speed, leadership, and intelligence, his name can climb beyond high school accolades.
Today we’d like to introduce you to Cayden Burnett.
How do you balance training with academics and personal life?
I typically create a schedule where I can do both. But I mainly try to work out in the mornings, so I can have the rest of the day to myself.
Who do you train with during the off-season? Do you have a mentor or trainer?
I train with my dad, who is also my Head football coach.
How are you staying in shape during the off-season?
I stay in shape by working out least 5 days a week
What specific goals have you set for yourself before next season?
Some goals I have set are breaking the high school record for the most tackles in a single season, and improving on my performance from last year.
Are you working on any particular skills or techniques right now?
Right now I mainly work on linebacker (drills) and staying in shape.

What motivates you to keep pushing during the off-season?
The fact that I still have a lot to prove is what motivates me.
How do you stay mentally sharp and focused when games aren’t being played?
I study and go over different formation with my dad /coach.
Have you taken on a leadership role with your team during the break?
Yeah, I have. Since I’m the captain, I have to motivate my teammates to keep going so we can be ready for this upcoming season.
Are you watching or studying any pro or college players for inspiration?
I’ve been watching Fred Warner, Roquan Smith, Barrett Carter and some more guys as well.
What’s your favorite part about football that keeps you coming back?
The physicality of the sport. I love the adrenaline, and the way it feels to hit someone.
How do you deal with pressure and expectations from coaches or peers?
I don’t really let pressure or expectations get to me. I just keep my eyes on the main goal, and use it as motivation.
What college or post-high school football goals do you have?
To be one of the best linebackers in our region!
