Fairburn, Georgia – Fresh off an undefeated state championship season, Creekside High School enters the 2026 campaign with a new standard and a new mission. Head Coach Maurice Dixon has made the team motto crystal clear: “Chasing Greatness.” As the reigning GHSA 4A State Champions took the field for spring practice, it was easy to see why expectations remain sky high in Fairburn. From the opening whistle, the intensity stood out. Every drill was sharp and competitive, coaches demanded maximum effort, and the energy throughout practice reflected a program determined to stay on top. Creekside looked every bit like a championship program operating with confidence, discipline, and purpose.
While the Seminoles are coming off a historic season, they understand repeating will not come easy. Creekside will have to replace several key contributors from last year’s undefeated squad, including standout quarterback Caden Benson. Benson’s leadership and poise played a major role in the Seminoles’ title run, both on the field and inside the locker room. His departure leaves one of the most important positions on the roster open heading into the summer. The quarterback battle appears to be shaping up between a talented rising freshman and an experienced upperclassman, creating one of the biggest storylines to watch entering the season. No matter who wins the job, they will step into an offense with strong pieces already in place.
Creekside returns several impact players who are expected to lead the charge in 2026. On defense, linebacker Tavarre Terrell looks poised to become one of the leaders of the unit. Physical, aggressive, and instinctive, Terrell is expected to be a force for opposing offenses to deal with all season long. In the secondary, defensive back Hayden Dixon has reportedly put together a strong offseason and is expected to anchor the defensive backfield. His development and leadership could play a major role in helping Creekside maintain its defensive dominance from a season ago. Up front, the Seminoles will rely heavily on offensive linemen Lawrence Martin and Rylan Robertson to set the tone in the trenches. Their experience and physicality should provide stability for an offense breaking in a new quarterback.
During interviews following practice, Coach Dixon acknowledged the opportunity in front of this senior class. He emphasized that this group has a chance to accomplish something very few programs in Georgia high school football history have achieved, winning back-to-back state championships. That possibility alone has added another level of motivation throughout the program. With a culture built on discipline, relentless competition, and championship expectations, Creekside does not appear satisfied with last season’s accomplishments. The Seminoles are approaching 2026 with the hunger of a team still trying to prove itself.
If spring practice was any indication, Creekside has all the ingredients necessary to make another deep postseason run. The talent is there, the coaching is established, and the standard remains championship-level. As the Seminoles continue “Chasing Greatness,” they will once again be one of the most dangerous teams in Georgia.
