Wisconsin’s WR Vinny Anthony II/ Senior Bowl
Mobile, Alabama – Day three of practices at the Senior Bowl offered a noticeable shift in tone, as both the National and American teams showcased more polished and efficient offensive execution. With reps piling up and players growing more comfortable within their schemes, quarterbacks and skill-position players began to separate themselves as game day inches closer.
The biggest offensive standout of the day was Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson, who looked calm, confident, and in full control of the offense. Robertson was especially impressive during the two-minute drill, where he efficiently moved the ball down the field and capped the drive with a touchdown. His command of the huddle, quick decision-making, and accuracy stood out to scouts in attendance, reinforcing his ability to operate under pressure. At wide receiver, Tyron Montgomery continued his impressive week, further solidifying himself as one of the more reliable pass catchers at the event. Montgomery consistently created separation from defenders and made several difficult catches, demonstrating strong hands and body control. His performance has not gone unnoticed, as scouts were frequently seen tracking his reps throughout practice.
Not all quarterback performances were trending upward, however. Diego Pavia struggled once again with ball security, continuing to fumble snaps from under center. While his competitiveness and athleticism remain intriguing, the repeated miscues are something evaluators will undoubtedly note as a concern moving forward.
On the defensive side of the ball, there was notable movement as well. Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood was pulled from practice, despite appearing healthy. While no official reason was given, it’s widely assumed that after an excellent showing earlier in the week, Hood’s draft stock had risen enough for his agent to advise shutting things down. It’s a testament to how strong his previous performances were that he no longer needed additional reps to make his case. Meanwhile, UNC defensive back Thaddeus Dixon made his presence felt throughout the entire practice. Dixon consistently harassed wide receivers at the line of scrimmage and showcased elite ball skills, finishing the day with two interceptions. His instincts, physicality, and ability to play the football were on full display, making him one of the top defensive performers of the session.
With practices wrapping up, the stage is now set for Senior Bowl Saturday on NFL Network. Both the National and American teams appear energized and excited for the opportunity to compete against the best prospects in the country. If the intensity and talent displayed during the week carry over into the game, fans and scouts alike should be in for an excellent showcase of future NFL talent.
