Hampton, Georgia – In Saturday’s non-league matchup, the Lovejoy Wildcats showcased their firepower and defensive grit, cruising to a 44-0 victory over the Mundy’s Mill Tigers. From the opening snap, Lovejoy dictated the pace and never looked back, improving to 2-0 on the season. The Wildcats wasted no time getting on the board in the first quarter. Quarterback Ryan Henson connected with wide receiver Wrightnick Atabonglefac for a touchdown strike to give Lovejoy an early lead. Moments later, junior running back Aquil Beazer, filling in for an injured senior starter, broke free for his first rushing touchdown of the game.
The defense then made its presence felt in the second quarter. Linebacker Isiah Osby scooped up a Mundy’s Mill fumble and returned it 10 yards to the end zone, pushing the Wildcats’ advantage to 22-0. By halftime, the Tigers were already struggling to stay in the game. Lovejoy continued to pile on the points in the third quarter, extending the margin to 37-0. Senior quarterback Ryan Henson looked comfortable and poised, both through the air and on the ground. After the game, coach Smith (offensive coordinator) praised his quarterback’s command of the offense: “He is our leader, he is the commander in charge,” Smith said of Henson. Despite the dominant performance, the contest was not without its sloppy moments. Both teams combined for more than a dozen penalties, slowing the flow of play throughout the day.

One of the brightest spots for the Wildcats was the emergence of Junior Running back Aquil Beazer, who carried the load in the absence of Lovejoy’s senior starter. Beazer finished with two rushing touchdowns, showing off a blend of power running and breakaway speed that gave the Tigers fits all day. With the win, Lovejoy (2-0) now turns its attention to East Coweta (0-3). The Indians are still searching for their first victory after falling 34-24 to North Cobb last week. Meanwhile, Mundy’s Mill (0-2) will look to regroup quickly before facing Carver-Atlanta (3-0) on Friday, September 5. The Panthers enter the contest undefeated after a convincing 37-14 win over Decatur.
