Jonesboro High School’s 4 Star DB Cortez Redding Commits to The Miami Hurricanes

Jonesboro, GA – One of Georgia’s top defensive prospects is headed to South Florida. Jonesboro High School standout Cortez Redding, a four-star safety in the class of 2026, officially announced his commitment to the University of Miami, giving the Hurricanes a major boost in their secondary for the future. Redding made his announcement during a special media day celebration at Jonesboro High School, surrounded by teammates, coaches, and family. His decision came after narrowing his choices down to a top four that included Indiana, NC State, Ole Miss, and Miami. As a junior, Cortez Redding recorded an impressive 118 tackles, including six for loss, along with three interceptions, (one of which he returned for a touchdown) and ten pass breakups, according to MaxPreps. He anchored a talented secondary at Jonesboro High School that also featured fellow Miami commit and standout cornerback Jontavius Wyman, who flipped from Georgia earlier this spring.

Standing approximately 6‑foot and weighing between 175 and 190 pounds, Redding is ranked around No. 290 nationally and No. 24 among safeties in his class. His commitment marks Miami’s first safety pledge in the 2026 cycle and adds to a growing defensive back haul for a program targeting a resurgence in the secondary. Miami has had setbacks with long-time safety targets such as Devin Jackson and Tyriq Green, making Redding a critical win in shore‑up the position group for the Hurricanes.
