U.S. Women’s Volleyball Team Prevails Over Thailand in Arlington Showdown

ARLINGTON, Texas — July 10, 2025 – The U.S. Women’s National Team kicked off Week 3 of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in style, overcoming a resilient Thailand squad in a hard-fought 3–1 victory (28–26, 21–25, 27–25, 25–15) at the College Park Center in Arlington.

 Set-by-Set Breakdown

  • Set 1 (28–26): A dramatic opener saw both teams locked at 26–26 before the U.S. pulled away to claim the set, showcasing clutch serving and tight defense. 
  • Set 2 (21–25): Thailand responded aggressively, executing sharp blocks and quick attacks to take the second set and even the match. 
  • Set 3 (27–25): A seesawing third set featured multiple set-point exchanges, but the U.S. edged ahead with composure and resilience. 
  • Set 4 (25–15): Dominant U.S. play sealed the match as they turned up the pressure with solid net play and service aggression. 

 Standout Performers

  • Avery Skinner had a memorable VNL debut, tallying 22 points (19 kills, two blocks, one ace) and leading the match with 10 digs. 
  • Logan Eggleston added 19 points and was a defensive force with nine digs and top-grade receptions. 
  • Dana Rettke contributed 10 points, including an ace, while newcomers Stephanie Samedy and Danielle Cuttino impressed, with Samedy adding nine kills and Cuttino blocking four. 
  • Defensive specialists Lexi Rodriguez (7 digs) and setter Jordyn Poulter (run offense with a kill, an ace, three digs) helped control the pace. 

With this win, Team USA moves to 5–4 in VNL 2025 pool play, climbing to 14 points and setting the stage for a match-up against the Dominican Republic next. This strong win over a tenacious Thai team highlights the U.S. squad’s depth and adaptability. With veterans and newcomers alike stepping up, the team is firing on all cylinders. Next up, a showdown with the Dominican Republic will be another chance to reinforce their status as contenders in Arlington.
