Dunwoody Wildcats Set to Host No. 10 Woodward Academy in Emotional Region 4-5A Showdown

Dunwoody, Ga. – The stakes couldn’t be higher this Friday night as the Dunwoody Wildcats (4-3, 3-1) welcome the Region 4-5A leader and No. 10-ranked Woodward Academy War Eagles (5-2, 4-0) to North DeKalb Stadium. A win for the Wildcats would not only even the all-time series at 2-2 but also position Dunwoody for a potential home playoff game, a milestone that would further solidify the program’s rise in recent years.
This matchup carries extra meaning for the Dunwoody community as the Wildcats will honor former head coach Mike Nash, who passed away last Friday. Nash, who led the program for the previous 10 seasons, played a pivotal role in reviving Dunwoody football. His commitment to the school, his players, and the community helped reestablish the Wildcats as a competitive force guiding the team to multiple playoff appearances and inspiring the development of the soon-to-be-completed on-campus stadium.
On the field, Dunwoody enters the game riding momentum in region play, having won three of its last four contests. The Wildcats will look to maintain that rhythm against a talented Woodward Academy squad that sits atop the region standings. For Dunwoody, the challenge will be matching the War Eagles’ physicality while capitalizing on opportunities to control the tempo on both sides of the ball.
While the focus is on football, Friday’s contest will also be a celebration of legacy, perseverance, and community. The Wildcats aim to honor Coach Nash the best way they know how, by playing with heart, unity, and pride.
Kickoff is set for Friday night at North DeKalb Stadium, where emotions will run high as Dunwoody looks to pull off a statement win in front of its home crowd.
